Womens Skills Course - Introductory Level
Whether you want to learn some basic techniques, you want to build your confidence over obstacles and downhill or you want to learn more for that trip to Morzine, let us help you.Get Mountain Biking offers women's only Introductory mountain bike skills courses on the last Saturday of each month at Harlestone Firs or Woburn Trails.
Introductory courses are structured to cover all mountain bike skills you are likely to need when mountain biking. The following modules are covered during the course.
- Correct bike set up and rider positioning
- Going uphill
- Going downhill
- Cornering
- Drops offs
- Lifting the front wheel
- Emergency trail repairs (including punctures and broken chains)
- The use of clipless pedals (with an opportunity to try them out)
- Bike safety checks
Courses run at a pace to suit the group (and no, we've never left anyone behind yet) so as long as you are exercising at least once a week - dont worry, you'll be fine.
The courses run 10am till 4pm and are delivered by female instructors, they are limited to a ratio of 1 instructor to 6 clients. For more photos of the course and details of the instruction see here.
If your other half wants to come along to try out the play area, jumps and downhills (each are 20-30 seconds long) then day passes to ride at Woburn Trails are available, please contact us for details.
Courses are running at both Harlestone Firs, Northamptonshire and Woburn Trails, Milton Keynes on the following dates;
July 26th (Harlestone Firs) - 2 places left
August 30th (Woburn Trails) - 5 place left
September 27th (Woburn Trails)
October 25th (Harlestone Firs)
November 29th (Woburn Trails)
Cost: £60 per person (includes all instruction, permit to ride and goody bag)

Womens Skills Course - Intermediate Level
Women only Intermediate Skills Course, running to exactly the same format as the standard Intermediate Skills course just without the guys around!- Bike set up and rider positioning
- Berms and Cornering at speed
- Drop offs - jumping these at speed
- Bunnyhopping/lifting the rear wheel
- Descents - steep and using different terrain
- Ascents - advanced techniques
- Trackstands
- Combining technical obstacles
- plus much more to help you go faster...
Cost: £60 per person (includes all instruction, permit to ride and goody bag)

Womens Bike Maintenance Course
If you want to learn how to keep your bike out of the bike shop then this is the course for you. The course covers all of the information you need to service your bike and undertake minor repairs and adjustments.The course covers the following;
- Workshop tools and trailside kit
- Bike set up (including suspension fork set up)
- Changing tyres, replacing inner tubes and puncture repairs
- Bike cleaning and lubrication
- Gear adjustments and cable replacement - Brake set up and adjustments plus pad/cable replacement
- Emergency trailside repairs
No prior knowledge of bike maintenance is assumed and the day is completely hands on so please bring your own bike with you.
The course includes all instruction, lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments and a Goody Bag for each participant.
Our women only courses run on an on demand basis so please contact us to express an interest in the next course.
Location: Macintosh Centre, Brixworth Country Park, Northamptonshire
