Core Mountain Bike Skills Courses

Our Core mountain biking courses are aimed at those new to mountain biking who have the fitness and confidence to ride but lack some of the skills or knowledge required to get over obstacles.

The course is aimed at keeping you on your bike rather than having to walk across obstacles.

The day is also suitable for road riders or triathletes wanting to try mountain biking.

What you will learn

The following modules are covered during the course:

- Bike set up and rider positioning
- Hill techniques (Uphill as well as Downhills)
- Cornering techniques
- Drops offs
- Line choices
- Powered Front Wheel Lifts
- Unpowered Front Wheel Lifts
- Balance techniques to improve your riding

Course Prerequisites

You should have the fitness to ride the course of approximately 10 miles and some experience of off road biking. We are happy to take people who are confident but have no off road riding experience but if you think you may struggle on this course please consider our Fundamentals Skills Course.

Women Only Mountain Bike Courses

Women's Specific Skills Courses are available for females that want to have the Course Instruction but without the guys around. These usually run on the last weekend of each month and are delivered by female instructors.

Course Details

Courses run at the following locations: Courses run at the following locations Harlestone Firs, Northamptonshire, Woburn Trails, nr Milton Keynes and Otley Chevin, Yorkshire.

11th March - Woburn Trails
18th March – Harlestone Firs
25th March – Woburn Trails (Women Only Course)

22nd April - Woburn Trails
28th April - Woburn Trails (Women Only Course)
29th April - Woburn Trails

6th May - Woburn Trails
19th May - Woburn Trails
27th May - Woburn Trails (Women Only Course)

17th June - Woburn Trails
23rd June - Woburn Trails (Women Only Course)
24th June - Woburn Trails

Time: All courses run 10am till 4pm

Cost: £70 per person (includes all instruction and Permit to Ride)

Bikes

You will need a mountain bike for this course, hybrid and cyclocross bikes are not suitable for the day.

If you do not have a suitable bike you can hire one from us for the course and costs £25 for the day, this can be booked at the same time as booking your course.
